A real estate entrepreneur and U.S. Navy veteran
Thomas McPherson is dedicated to building sustainable communities and solving complex challenges. After earning top honors as a broker and excelling at premier firms, he founded Fenix Private Capital Group in 2012, revitalizing underperforming real estate across Arizona. In 2019, he co-founded DO Income Fund, a distressed debt fund that has managed hundreds of loans nationwide. In 2023, Thomas started Lukrom, a private debt fund featuring an innovative safety of principal first loss commitment to investors. His leadership blends innovation, sustainability, and a commitment to improving the communities he serves.
At Lukrom, putting our investors first isn’t just a promise—it’s a principle we live by. Our Executive Team and Advisory Board have millions of dollars invested in the Lukrom iFund in a “First Loss” position, setting us apart in the industry. This means that if there are any potential losses beyond the real estate equity of the borrowers, our capital is the first to be impacted, protecting our investors’ returns. While we don’t anticipate any losses, this unparalleled commitment demonstrates our confidence in the opportunities we pursue and our dedication to aligning our interests with our investors’. No other fund is doing this, making Lukrom a true leader in investor-first accountability.
Thomas McPherson has spearheaded the development of two pioneering sustainable apartment communities in Arizona: ECO MESA and ECO PHX.
Both developments exemplify Thomas McPherson's commitment to integrating sustainable living with modern urban lifestyles, setting new standards for eco-friendly residential communities in Arizona.
ECO MESA
located in Downtown Mesa, is a solar-powered apartment complex offering studio, one-, and two-bedroom homes. Designed with sustainability at its core, the community features a rooftop solar array, energy-efficient construction methods, and eco-friendly landscaping. Residents enjoy amenities such as a rooftop pool, resident clubhouse, and proximity to Mesa's cultural hub.
ECO PHX
situated in Downtown Phoenix's arts district, is recognized as one of Arizona's most sustainable living environments. This solar-powered community offers studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, each designed with high-efficiency appliances and Low-E windows to minimize energy consumption. Amenities include a rooftop pool and spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and on-site electric car charging stations, all within walking distance of Roosevelt Row's vibrant arts scene.
In June 2020, The Collective Sedona was sold for $11.7 million, a testament to the remarkable transformation led by Thomas McPherson and his team. When Thomas acquired the 64,000-square-foot property in August 2015, it was known as Tequa Plaza—a neglected, struggling center marked by deferred maintenance and a poor reputation. However, Thomas saw potential where others saw failure. Guided by a vision to create a vibrant community hub focused on art, dining, shopping, health, wellness, and local culture, he led a comprehensive rebranding and revitalization effort. With significant financial investment and dedicated community outreach, the plaza was reimagined as The Collective Sedona, a dynamic cultural and commercial destination. By the time of the sale, occupancy had increased from just 44% at acquisition to 100%, reflecting the success of Thomas's strategic approach. Although the decision to sell was motivated by a desire to focus on other projects and family in Phoenix, the lasting impact of his efforts remains evident as The Collective Sedona continues to be celebrated as a gateway to Sedona and a premier destination in Northern Arizona.
Madre Tierra Foundation
Thomas and his wife established the Madre Tierra Foundation to support education and environmental restoration. The foundation has funded the creation of two schools—one in Sedona, Arizona, and another in Costa Rica—providing educational opportunities for underserved communities. Additionally, the foundation has spearheaded reforestation efforts, successfully restoring approximately 200 acres of former cattle farmland to its natural state, furthering their mission of fostering sustainable growth and environmental stewardship.
